Brownie the Horse

My newest character scarf creation. One of my clients requested a horse scarf, so I had to come up with one. This is my first attempt and not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Isn't she a beauty?

Beige Marl Felted Handbag Update

<---NOT!

Just wanted to show you all a photo of the handbag in progress. I have knitted the bottom of the bag with just the Natural Mix, then I am continuing with the Beige Marl to finish it.

I am planning on having a flap closure with added beads to give the closure some weight. I am still not quite sure how I am going to do the handles yet.

As you can see I am using my 30" Versatile AJAL from Decor Accents. I absolutely love this board.

You can find great tutorial video's on knitting board and loom stitches at www.dalooms.com

Forever Blowing Bubbles or Bobbles Scarf

<---NOT!
This is such a cute scarf and I really want to try it. However, where to find those little balls you need. Well, never fear...I have found these little balls that will work perfectly. You get them at Hobby Lobby or Michaels in the cake decorating section. They are called Balloons Cake Decorations. They are about $2.66, at least that was the price at my local Hobby Lobby. You get 3 balloon sets per package and the little balls just pull off. There are 36 little balls (balloons) in each package. So, you'd have 72 to use for the scarf and I think that would be plenty. Here is a photo!

The pattern calls for 1 inch balls, which would be the size of a quarter. These are the size of a dime, maybe a little bigger. I think they'll work great! I will let you know...

I will post a new poll everyother week or so, so be sure to keep a look out for those and join in. Also, I have added some pic's of my family, so you can get to know me better. There in the sidebar...(Flickr). Some are new photo's, some are not so new. I am going to start snapping some new photo's of them soon, so we'll see if I am still alive after that...LOL (they hate me taking their photo's)
Ok, well I am off to finish my new handbag...I just can't wait to felt it!

Purple KK Board Scarf

This is the scarf I made on the Purple KK Board. I used Lion Boucle' yarn mixed with KnitPicks Butterfly Kisses yarn. It took almost 3 skeins of the Lion Brand and 1 of the Butterfly Kisses.
<---NOT!

It is as wide as the Purple KK Board and 60" long.

This next photo is of my daughter stretching it as hard as she could and you can see that it is not at all as holey as you might think. In fact you have to pull it to see the holes. Overall a beautiful thick, with a nice drape scarf. I sold all I made of these but this one, so people love them. You could seam two together for a very beautiful shawl.

Crochet Look Scarf

<---NOT!

Well, I have decided not to finish the braided scarf. Here is a picture of how it looks.

The next time I need to make each section 65" long to allow for the braid. I also used 4 pegs for the width and 2 would be better. Or, I think using Isela's I cord method on the round loom for the sections would work well too. My newest venture is trying the Mock Crochet look on a scarf. I also used Isela's new cable cast on, which prevents that loopy edge when casting on a loom. I am using Paton's Bohemian and knitting on the red
Knifty Knitter brand of loom.
I really like this method. It is very easy and works up very quickly. It also uses less yarn than knitting on a knitting board. So, this method would be best when using yarns with less yardage.

Braided scarf in progress

This is the current project I am working on. I am knitting 3 separate 3" wide scarves that are 60" long

using Paton's Bohemian yarn. I am then going to braid them together, then place the ends back on the knitting board to knit a border of color on both ends. This is what I have done so far, just need to finish that last color.

This next one is a checkerboard 60" scarf. It is about 6" wide and I used the Paton's Bohemian yarn in 2 different colors.

Last week I came up with a reversible scarf. Now, I know I am not the first one to think of this...but I think that they are pretty darn cute. In the photo's below I turned up one end so you can see the second color of the scarf. The first one I made was a short one for a child. (didn't have enough yarn to make it longer) I used Baby Cloud for one side and Bernat Boa for the other side. Whata ya think? Cute huh?

These are 2 more reversible ones I've made this week.

Last but not least, this is my favorite reversible. The reversible's work best when you use 2 very thin yarns. On this next one I used Bernat Boa and Paton's Gllittalic which is so pretty and so soft, just the perfect yarn for this application. For a 60" reversible it takes 2 skeins of each color.

See how that Gllittalic just sparkles. Well that's all for now...Have a blessed day!

Hello Moma

Hey Moma,
This is neat. Your own little chat room. Are you surprised that I actually looked at this one? LOL
Have a good day!
Love you,Jennifer

Welcome

Hi and Welcome to my blog. My name is Connie and I live in Mint Hill, North Carolina. I am a wife, mother, hairstylist and most importantly a crafter! I love crafts of all kinds, you name it I've tried it. Lately however I have aquired a love of knitting boards and looms. Me, along with my mom and sister, have knitted over 200 scarf's for 2 craft shows in November 2005. I have also started designing patterns for the knitting boards, because there is few and far between in my experience of searching them out. Most recently my character scarf's seem to be very popular. I call them "Connie's Little Characters". I will soon have them for sale on my website... Bee Happy Gifts. I already have the Santa pre-made scarf's for sale, soon I will have the pattern for sale. I also have an Elf, Snowman, Rudolph and Christmas Mouse. Well, that's all for now...back to my knitting!
